In today’s world with technology and a more advanced society life can be harder in some ways for teenagers. We do not live in a time period where everywhere is safe and we can be carefree. The world has new many issues. Teenagers today may feel pressured by their surroundings in some instances. For example colleges today are harder to get into because there are more applicants. If we go back twenty years we can see that colleges were smaller and had less applicants. In this time of day the world is very competitive and everyone needs to gain an edge. Teenagers are competitive with many things sports, style, and academics. The multi-tasking of the world may be too much stress for kids as their dealing with peer pressure and the need to succeed to survive and make something for themselves.
I don’t agree with the author’s views wholly as he is not a youngster of this time period. Kids these days as mentioned are dealing with many different things such as hat were mentioned and others like cyber bullying and competing in limited jobs. Machines of this time are also taking place of some jobs and also so are foreign workers that work for less. These things applied to modern life create stress and more concerns the young adult may have. To live in a certain time brings certain things upon the person who is living in it. If this author lived in the seventies when he was a teenager from the mature state he was in that’s how he saw the world. As a teenager at the maturity level that they are in they are seeing this more modern age world in a different light therefore the author can only understand the times now from a teenagers point of view if he or she was a teenager in the present times.

I agree with you Zac, many kids these days deal with a lot of challenges in their everyday life, and these things are not easy to deal with. This author is speaking in reference to when he was a child, which was many years back. Society changes drastically almost every ten to twenty years, and to speak about a time that was almost seventy years ago is a big difference. Society is changing rapidly, and people need to change with it. For example, once Facebook became a worldwide phenomenon, people had to adapt in how they interact socially. With everyone using the internet to communicate, simple phone calls lost their effect, and became unusual. Everyone must adapt to their society as it changes, and he makes a proposal to change society. This simply cannot happen, as everyone must be in agreement to change a society, simply because if they aren’t, some people won’t change and this would bring the society down as a whole. Each generation’s view on the world is different, so for someone of a much older generation to decide what is best for a younger generation doesn’t seem to be the best of options. The teenagers should be able to choose themselves, as they understand their society better than anyone else.

I agree with your blog Zac. I feel as if life is harder every year for teenagers due to technology and their surroundings. I agree when you talk about colleges now a days being a lot more competitive than ten to twenty years ago. Teenagers feel they have to be the best at everything and need to have outstand grades and such just to be accepted which is a lot of pressure for a young adult. Also, like you said, teens have to worry about sports and style and keeping up with their social lives. All of these things can cause stress on a teen. I feel that parents do not understand teens in todays world because everything was much different when they were a teenager. It seems as if life was easier for them and that’s why they do not understand some of the problems teens have now a days because they cannot really relate. I agree when you talk about teens dealing with stress and things that go on in a teens life like bullying, jobs, school, etc just add onto the stress to the point where eventually they will break. Everyone has a breaking point. But overall I agree with what you talk about throughout your blog.
